Kurdish fighters, on the record
A world heavyweight champion. A UFC debut in August. Fighters from Mêrdîn, Kirmaşan, Dersim and Sinê who compete under their own name. This is where their records are kept, with a source behind every number.

Two moments that changed the picture
On 27 June 2026 Agit Kabayel was elevated to WBC world heavyweight champion. He is the first world heavyweight champion of Kurdish descent in the history of boxing, and he is unbeaten in twenty seven fights (Wikipedia, 2026).
On 12 August 2026 Namo Fazil makes his UFC debut at welterweight, carrying a record of ten wins and one loss and the nickname Grandson of Saladin (Kurdistan24, 2026).
Between them sits a generation that grew up in wrestling halls in Finland, Norway, Sweden and Germany, and that now competes in the UFC, the PFL, Glory and Oktagon.

Wrestling was the first Kurdish combat sport. The cage is where that tradition ended up.
